Leicestershire Police have launched a huge search operation after a three-year-old reportedly fell into the River Soar in Braunstone at around 5pm. Emergency services scrambled to the scene in a desperate bid to find the missing tot.
Helicopter and Drone Join Hunt for Child
All hands were on deck as fire crews, paramedics, and police rushed to the riverbank. A police helicopter scanned the area from above before handing over to a drone. The chopper returned after refueling to floodlight the search zone and assist ground teams.

Safety crews shut the road between Braunstone Lane East and Middleton Street to allow an uninterrupted operation. Officers from several agencies are working tirelessly, combing the river and surrounding areas.
Search Paused Overnight but to Resume at Dawn
A Leicestershire Police spokesperson said: “Police and emergency services are dealing with an incident near to Aylestone Road, Braunstone, following reports of a three-year-old child falling into the River Soar around 5 pm today. All services are in attendance as the search for the child continues.”
Despite overnight search efforts ending, police promise to resume at first light, with fresh focus on locating the youngster. The local community remains anxious and supportive, urged to provide any information that could help bring the child home safely.
