Woman’s Body Found in Guildford River – Police Seek Crucial Witness
Just before 9am this Saturday (14 July), police were called to Millmead Lock on the River Wey in Guildford after a woman’s body was spotted floating in the water.
The woman has not been formally identified yet, but officers know who she is and have informed her family. The coroner has also been notified. Police are treating the death as unexplained but currently believe no one else was involved.
Police Hunt Witness Who Saw Woman Before Incident
Officers want to speak to anyone who was near Millmead Lock between 8am and 9am and might have seen the woman before she entered the water. In particular, they are searching for a woman in her 50s who was seen sitting on a bench nearby, eating a picnic. She left heading towards Debenhams through the car park before police arrived.
Police are keen to speak to her as she may hold vital information about how the woman ended up in the river.
