Arson Attack Sparks Alarm in Basingstoke – Woman and Toddler Targeted

Police have launched a joint probe after an arson attack at a Basingstoke home on Monday afternoon.

Sofa Set Ablaze in Suspicious Break-In

The blaze broke out between 1.42pm and 1.50pm at a residential property on Porter Road. A 39-year-old woman was looking after a three-year-old child inside when a man acting suspiciously was spotted lurking nearby.

The suspect reportedly sneaked into the rear garden, reached through an open conservatory window, and set fire to a sofa.

Heroic Neighbour Helps Extinguish Flames

Thankfully, the victim saw the flames in time and, together with a quick-thinking neighbour, squashed the fire before it could spread. No one was hurt during the incident.
