Shock Theft at Warrington Bank Cashpoint

Warrington police are hunting two men after an elderly woman was duped and robbed at a Halifax cash machine on Buttermarket Street.

Woman Tricked, £800 Stolen

On Saturday, February 24, just after 1:30pm, the victim withdrew cash but her card was trapped in the machine. A stranger hanging around nearby stepped in, telling her the cashpoint was faulty and she needed to go inside the bank to sort it out.

Trusting him, she entered the branch. While she was inside, the man grabbed her card from the machine and promptly withdrew £800 from her account.

His accomplice fled on foot towards Golden Square.
