Saturday Raid Backed by Drone Surveillance
The swoop took place on Saturday, 10 May, with police drone surveillance playing a key role. Officers focused their efforts on hotspots flagged by concerned residents.
Operation Highlights
- Two bikes seized on Woodville Avenue: Officers caught two balaclava-clad youths riding illegally.
- Parents present at the stop: Both riders were stopped in front of their parents and reported for driving offences.
- Third bike recovered: A 16-year-old boy was found in possession of a newly purchased bike, which he had just ridden for the first time.
Police Issue Stern Warning
Cleveland Police have warned that unauthorised off-road biking will not be tolerated. A spokesperson said:
“These illegal bikes are not only a danger to the public but cause significant distress to residents. We will continue to act on community intelligence and carry out targeted patrols throughout the summer.”
