Kent Police Probe Suspicious Letters Sent to Mosques

Kent police are investigating whether three letters sent to mosques on 2 May 2018 are connected. The alarm was raised at 12.23pm when officers received a report of a suspicious letter containing white powder sent to a mosque in Giles Lane, Canterbury.

White Powder Shuts Down Mosque in Canterbury

The area was quickly cordoned off, but thankfully no injuries were reported. Tests revealed the powder was harmless, sparking relief among locals.

Second Mosque Targeted in Maidstone

At 3.10pm, a similar letter arrived at a mosque in Mote Road, Maidstone. Again, the powder was found to be a safe substance. Police continue to treat the incidents seriously.

Offensive Letter Sent to Gravesend Mosque

Officers are also investigating a separate delivery to a mosque in Gravesend, which contained no white powder but was deemed offensive.

Enquiries remain ongoing as police hunt for those responsible behind this troubling series of mailings.
