Best Bar None Boosts Ramsgate Nightlife
Launched in Ramsgate in 2022, the Best Bar None scheme is backed by the Home Office and drinks industry. It started in Manchester to reward responsible venues and has since spread nationwide. Kent Police teamed up with local councils and partners to roll it out locally.

To qualify, pubs, bars, and clubs had to meet strict standards in:
- Venue management
- Staff training and welfare
- Customer safety
- Community involvement
These venues work closely with police and councils to cut crime and keep the town buzzing safely.
Chief Inspector Hails Safer Ramsgate
“Businesses have a responsibility to help keep their customers safe,” said Thanet District Commander Chief Inspector Ian Swallow. “By joining Best Bar None, venues work with police and councils to cut crime linked to alcohol. This makes Ramsgate safer for everyone and supports the local night-time economy.”
The scheme is a winning team effort to create a safer, more welcoming Ramsgate after dark for residents and visitors alike.
