Vanished Without a Trace: The Mystery of Missing Jayson Duffy
Police are urgently revisiting cold cases, including the baffling disappearance of Jayson Duffy from Coventry. He vanished in October 1989 aged just 18, leaving behind a family desperate for answers.
Last Seen in Amsterdam’s Shadows
Jayson was on a marketing trip to Amsterdam with four others. On the fateful night, he was drinking at the Cafe de Burgh with two acquaintances. Witnesses last spotted him inside the bar — then he vanished. He never made it back to his hotel, and no one has seen him since.
Despite the city’s canals, including one right outside the bar, no body was ever found. No eyewitness reported anyone falling in or disappearing near the water.
No Sign of Foul Play — But Questions Remain
While criminal activity hasn’t been ruled out, detectives say there’s no evidence pointing to foul play. Jayson’s family launched extensive media appeals back in the day, but the trail went cold. The case was reopened in 2022, yet remains unresolved.
Could Jayson Have Made It Back to the UK?
Detectives hold onto hope that someone might hold the key to this mystery. It’s possible Jayson returned home unnoticed.
He was last seen wearing a cream or white crewneck jumper, blue tracksuit bottoms, and white trainers. Jayson is mixed-race with curly afro-style hair, a brown mark in the white of his right eye, and a scar on his right index finger.
