Blaze Breaks Out at Surrey Care Home – Residents Evacuated Safely
Firefighters scrambled to a care home on Mulberry Avenue, Stanwell, just before midnight on Friday, May 4th, after a fire broke out in the three-storey building.
Multiple Fire Crews Battle Growing Blaze
Initial crews from Staines and Sudbury rushed to the scene, soon joined by units from Egham, Camberley, Esher, and Woking. A Painshill Incident Command Unit was also deployed to coordinate efforts as the fire spread through the home.
Residents Evacuated Without Injury
Staff and firefighters worked quickly to evacuate all residents. Surrey Police supported the operation, ensuring everyone got out safely. Luckily, there have been no reports of casualties.
Cause Unknown as Investigation Gets Underway
A Surrey Fire and Rescue spokesman confirmed six fire crews fought the blaze in the residential building, carrying out phased evacuation with police help. Specialist fire investigators are now examining the scene to determine what sparked the fire.
Early Morning Update: Fire Extinguished
By 6:34 am, crews had successfully doused the flames, which were found in a cavity wall. Firefighters are now standing down, but the investigation continues to uncover the cause of the dramatic overnight blaze.
