Sheffield Shooting Shocker: Police Hunt Witnesses After Early Morning Gunfire
Gun Discharge Sparks Urgent Police Appeal
Sheffield cops are scrambling for witnesses after a firearm was discharged in Heeley in the dead of night on September 22. The alarm was raised just after midnight when Yorkshire Ambulance Service tipped off police about a stabbing on Penns Road. But when officers stormed in, they found wall damage pointing to gunfire instead.
Victim Silent, Police Call for Tips
The victim, a man in his 20s, is refusing to talk, hitting a wall in the investigation. Police now desperately need anyone who was near the scene to come forward. If you saw or heard anything strange, they want to hear from you.
Did Your Dashcam or CCTV Capture the Action?
- Police want footage from dashcams or CCTV showing anyone approaching the property on foot or by car.
- Any clips from around Penns Road could help crack the case.
Community Reassurance & How to Help
Detective Sergeant Stafford Megson from the Armed Crime Team vowed, “We’re doing everything to find who’s behind this and why.” Expect an increased police presence in the area as officers support local residents.
Worried or got info? Officers are on hand to listen. For those hesitant to speak face-to-face, the independent charity Crimestoppers offers an anonymous way to help. Megson said, “No detail is too small – it could be the key to solving this.”
