Taxi Driver’s Fuel Stop Turns Fiery Nightmare at Shell Garage

Late on April 13, a routine refuel went up in flames at a Shell station on Netherthorpe Road. Between 11.20pm and 11.40pm, a taxi driver pulled in to top up his tank — only to face a shocking attack.

Man Sparks Blaze After Asking for Cigarette

A man approached the driver asking for a cigarette. Seconds later, he leaned over the fuel nozzle and set it ablaze, engulfing the taxi and petrol pump in fierce flames. The fire caused severe damage before the man made a quick getaway on foot behind the station.

Quick-Thinking Staff Save the Day

Thankfully, staff at the service station acted fast and put out the fire. No injuries were reported in the fiery incident.

Police Seek Witnesses

Anyone with information is urged to call 101, quoting incident 1086 from April 13. Help catch the arsonist before he strikes again!
