In a shocking pre-match incident at Anfield yesterday, a police officer was struck in the face with a bottle. The officer, positioned outside the stadium, suffered a nasty cut and was rushed to the first aid room for treatment. Female Fan Also Injured in Bottle Attack

Adding to the mayhem, a female supporter was also hurt by a thrown bottle around the same time. This sick behaviour has sparked a full-blown investigation, with police combing through CCTV and gathering witness statements. Authorities are working closely with both clubs to track down those responsible.

Police Condemn Violence

“This type of behaviour is totally unacceptable and will not be tolerated,” said Silver Commander Chief Inspector Iain Wyke. “The officer was there to keep fans safe, so to be assaulted just for doing his job is simply shocking.”

Wyke added that while officers accept the risks of their job, they should never face violence like this. He urged anyone with information to come forward and help bring the culprits to justice.
