Six Arrested and Three Knives Seized in Ashford Town Centre Brawl

Kent Police swooped on a fiery disturbance between rival groups in Ashford’s County Square. The drama unfolded just after 1.30pm on Tuesday, 4 February 2020, with calls reporting weapons on the scene.

Weapons Carried, But No Injuries

Eyewitnesses spotted some in the groups brandishing knives before they scattered. Thankfully, no one was hurt in the chaos. Officers launched an immediate search, backed by the National Police Air Service.

Arrests Made as Police Crack Down

Six suspects were hauled in: a 26-year-old man, an 18-year-old man, and four 17-year-old boys, all local to Ashford. They were arrested on suspicion of affray and are believed to know each other.

Three knives were recovered and seized as evidence.

Supt Simon Thompson said: “We take robust action against those involved in threatening behaviour and those who cause fear in our communities. Patrols will remain in the town centre as part of their daily duties, and stop and search operations will continue as needed.”
