Met Police and BTP swoop on Woolwich Arsenal in knife crime crackdown

12 Stop-and-Searches, No Knives Found

Officers from the Met’s Greenwich Safer Neighbourhoods Team (SNT), teamed up with British Transport Police (BTP), carried out a high-profile stop-and-search operation at Woolwich Arsenal DLR station yesterday. Out of 12 people stopped and searched, over half yielded positive results — but crucially, no knives were discovered.

Ongoing Fight Against Knife Crime

A spokesperson for Greenwich MPS said: “This operation is part of our ongoing commitment to keeping the community safe and preventing crime, particularly knife-related incidents. Thankfully, no knives were found on this occasion, but the results demonstrate the importance of continued proactive policing.”

Part of Wider London Safety Drive

This latest sweep is one of many across London targeting violent crime hotspots and busy transport hubs. Police urge the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour to help keep Greenwich and nearby areas safe.
