Busted in 30 Minutes! Two suspected burglars nabbed just half an hour after a break-in rocked Chatham.
Alarm Bells at Sports Direct
Kent Police sprang into action at 1:08 a.m. on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, after an alarm sounded at Sports Direct on Chatham High Street. Officers found a forced door and reported stolen goods including clothing and shoes. Nearby, several bags stuffed with boxed trainers were spotted.
Suspects Caught Red-Handed
The burglars made a dash when officers arrived, vanishing into surrounding streets and alleyways. But the chase was short-lived. Patrols found the two men hiding in a bush nearby.
Charges and Release
- Both men, aged 45 and 51, local to Chatham, were arrested for burglary, carrying equipment for theft, and possession of a bladed article in public.
- They have since been released pending further investigation.
