Sussex Police Probe Shocking Bus Brawl in Eastbourne
Sussex Police have launched an urgent investigation after a disturbing video surfaced on social media showing an officer allegedly assaulting a restrained man on a bus outside Arlington Arms, Eastbourne.
What Happened on the Bus?
The drama unfolded at around 9.40pm on July 16 when officers were called to deal with an abusive passenger refusing to pay fare or leave the bus. The man reportedly continued his aggressive behaviour towards other passengers and police.
He was detained and restrained inside the bus. Despite warnings, he allegedly assaulted officers before being removed from the vehicle.
Charges and Police Response
The man now faces charges of assaulting a police officer and using threatening or abusive behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm, or distress.
A Sussex Police spokesperson said: “We are aware of a video showing the interaction between officers and the detained man. Our Professional Standards Department is reviewing all footage, including officers’ bodycam videos.”
Sussex Police urge anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant footage to come forward, quoting reference serial 1538 of 16/07.
