Police Constable Darren Triggs, 36, a dedicated Sussex officer for 14 years, has been left paralysed from the chest down by a blood clot in his spine. Surgeons who fought to save him have delivered the heart-breaking news: Darren will never walk again.
Family hit hard by sudden tragedy
On the morning of December 3, 2019, Darren was at home with his pregnant wife Rosie, who was seven months along, and their two young children, Daisy, four, and Amelie, just 23 months old. Suddenly, Darren experienced chest pain and numbness in his legs. He was rushed into emergency surgery.
Despite the surgeons’ best efforts to remove the clot, Darren lost the ability to walk or even sit up. With a third child due in just six weeks, the family now face a devastating new reality.
