Tragic Blaze Claims Life of 75-Year-Old Woman in Cwmbran

A deadly house fire tore through a home on Henllys Way, St Dials, Cwmbran, on Saturday night, claiming the life of a 75-year-old woman. Emergency services rushed to the scene after the call came in at around 8.40pm.

Teen Held Over Suspicious Fire

Police have arrested a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life. He remains in custody as detectives work to piece together what happened.

Police Release Statement

“We can confirm that a 75-year-old woman has died at the scene of the fire. Her family has been informed and will be supported by specially trained officers,” said Superintendent Laura Bartley.

“We understand this is distressing for the community but we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident. Residents may see an increased police presence during the enquiries.”
