Teen Girl Plucked from Sea Near Brighton i360
A 14-year-old girl was dramatically rescued from the sea near Brighton i360 in a swift, multi-agency emergency operation on Thursday afternoon.
Rapid Response by Rescue Teams
Reports of a person in difficulty sparked an immediate rescue effort around 2 PM. Brighton RNLI lifeboat, Brighton Seafront Team, Newhaven and Shoreham coastguards all rushed to the scene. Sussex Police and the South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) were also quickly mobilised to assist.
Brighton seafront beach patrol members, already nearby, were pivotal in reaching the teenager and bringing her safely back to shore.
Teen Now Under Mental Health Care
The young girl was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital and has been detained under the Mental Health Act for assessment and treatment.
Coastguard Highlights Teamwork
“We assisted Sussex Police with an incident at Brighton Beach this afternoon,” said a HM Coastguard spokesperson, praising the joint effort.
