Police Crackdown in Thanet! 74 Dispersed, 6 Arrested in Weekend Blitz

The move targets rising antisocial behaviour, including underage drinking, public rowdiness, and attacks on staff in busy coastal towns.

Weekend Mayhem: Arrests and Seizures

  • Margate: Two teenage girls cuffed for breaking dispersal orders after causing a scene on a bus. One also nabbed with cocaine.
  • Broadstairs: A 21-year-old had his e-scooter seized for riding without insurance. Meanwhile, booze was confiscated from underage teens arriving by train.
  • Ramsgate: Police seized a baseball bat and arrested a teen after a property was vandalised.
  • Margate Station: A 17-year-old was slapped with a dispersal order and community warning after stirring trouble.

Officers searched 24 individuals and engaged with crowds around the district to nip trouble in the bud.

Police Chief Issues Warning and Reassures Public

Chief Inspector Ian Swallow, Thanet District Commander, said: “We hope people enjoying the beaches felt reassured by our presence. Antisocial behaviour won’t be tolerated. Working alongside residents, businesses, and partners, we’ll keep Thanet safe this summer.”

Dispersal orders remain active until Tuesday 1 July, covering town centres and beach areas, with regular reviews to assess their effectiveness.
