Brutal Croydon Robbery: Police Hunt Two Men After Savage Attack
Detectives have released CCTV images of two suspects wanted over a vicious robbery in Croydon. The incident happened on Tuesday, 15 September, around 8pm on Portland Road, South Norwood.
Victim Brutally Beaten and Left Unconscious
A man was in a shop with a friend when a stranger he had never seen before confronted him. This man was soon joined by another attacker. The pair launched a savage assault, head-butting and kneeing the victim in the head before repeatedly punching him as he lay unconscious on the floor.
The attackers dragged the victim, still unconscious, into the street. There they kicked and stamped on his head. The brutal attack lasted about two minutes, during which they stole the man’s bag.
Victim Suffers Fractured Eye Socket – Police Appeal for Help
The victim is now recovering from a fractured eye socket. The Metropolitan Police’s South Area Command Unit launched a full investigation and are urging the public to help identify the two men responsible.
“This was a sustained, remorseless attack that must not go unpunished,” said PC Luke Dowling, the lead investigator. “The man is incredibly lucky he didn’t escape with more serious injuries. We are working to trace those responsible and hold them to account.”
If you recognise the men in the released images or have any information, contact the Metropolitan Police immediately.
