Woman Seriously Injured in Hammer Attack on Claygate Street
A brutal assault shook Telegraph Lane, Claygate, at around 1.15pm yesterday. Paramedics rushed to the scene after a woman suffered serious head injuries in what is believed to be a hammer attack.
Local Man Arrested for Attempted Murder
The woman was rushed to hospital and remains in a serious condition. A 22-year-old local man was quickly arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is currently in police custody as inquiries continue.
Police Appeal for Witnesses to Come Forward
“This appears to have been a completely unprovoked attack which has left the woman with serious head injuries,” said Temporary Detective Inspector Sean West. “Such violent and senseless attacks are thankfully extremely rare in our local communities. We are working around the clock to bring the culprit to justice.”
“We have spoken to several witnesses and are carrying out house-to-house inquiries. We urge anyone who saw the attack or spotted suspicious activity in the area to come forward immediately. Even the smallest detail could be crucial.”
