Thirty-Two Arrested After Brazen Road Block Protests in Kent
Chaos hit Kent roads when 32 protesters caused massive traffic disruption by gluing themselves to the tarmac at two busy spots. The trouble kicked off at 8.05am on Wednesday, 27 October 2021, when Kent Police were alerted to activists blocking the A206 Crossways Boulevard.
Swift Police Action Clears Crossways Blockade
Protestors had stuck themselves to the road and each other, bringing traffic to a grinding halt. Officers arrived within minutes, and by 8.30am, traffic was moving again. Fourteen protesters were promptly arrested on suspicion of obstructing the highway.
More Arrests as M25 Slip Road Targeted
Shortly after, police detained four more suspects believed to be behind the disruption in a nearby car park. Then at 9.05am, another group of protestors blocked the M25 Junction 1a slip road, with some gluing themselves down.
Officers arrested a further 14 people at the M25, with one lane now running and continued engagement with remaining protestors ongoing.
Warnings for Motorists
All 32 remain in custody on suspicion of obstructing the highway or conspiring to cause public nuisance. Police investigations continue, and motorists are urged to expect delays and seek alternative routes where possible.
