One unlucky traveller left the freedom of the Isle of Wight on Friday, heading back to their home in Hong Kong. But instead of a warm welcome, they faced a brutal quarantine regime straight off the plane.
Tagged and Trapped: No Moving More Than 50 Metres
Upon arrival, they took a Covid test – negative, thankfully – but that was just the start. Next came an electronic ankle tag. Step outside their tiny flat (about the size of your average living room) by more than 50 metres, and it’s game over.
Break the rule and expect to be arrested, slapped with a £5,000 fine, and potentially locked up for six months. All this, just for daring to stretch their legs.
