Armed Moped Gang Sparks Alarm in Southampton
Hampshire Police are urgently hunting three men spotted riding mopeds while brandishing machetes in Southampton yesterday afternoon.
Masked Men Roam International Way Armed with Blades
At 1.26pm on Saturday 2 April, witnesses reported seeing two motorbikes carrying three males on International Way. The riders were allegedly armed with machetes and were seen riding on the grassy verge between International Way and Kingsclere Avenue.
The mopeds lingered briefly before heading along Burghclere Road towards Chamberlayne Leisure Centre on Weston Lane.
Police Launch Hunt After Incident
Officers rushed to the scene and searched the area thoroughly. No injuries or threats have been reported so far, but the suspects remain at large.
Police have released grainy images of the trio, hoping the public can help identify them.
Descriptions of the Suspects and Mopeds
- First rider (larger moped): Wore a black, blue and silver helmet (later switched to black and green), black balaclava, light grey tracksuit, and white trainers with a black stripe.
- Passenger on larger moped: Dressed in a dark thick jacket with blue hood, dark trousers, black balaclava, and seen later wearing the helmet initially worn by the first rider.
- Rider on smaller black sports bike: Wore a black balaclava, dark trousers and shoes, dark jumper with white sleeves and hood.
