Three Arrested After Cannabis-Smelling Car with Dodgy Headlight Stopped in Penwortham
Just after 9pm on Sunday, police pulled over a car in Penwortham for a busted headlight. The driver stepped out and a strong whiff of cannabis hit the officers straight away.
Cannabis Joint Found on Seat
When the driver checked the headlights, officers spotted a cannabis joint left on the seat. That raised serious red flags.
Search Uncovers Shocking Stash
Using powers under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act, cops searched the three males and the vehicle. They found:
- A quantity of cannabis
- Cash
- A paint gun
- A balaclava
- A smoke grenade
- Knives
- Other prohibited items
All three men were arrested on the spot and taken into custody. The car was seized as well.
Interviews and Ongoing Investigations
The trio spent the day being interviewed. Searches have also been carried out at their homes. Forensic and digital enquiries into the case are still underway.
