Fake cops ram van in daring B&Q car park raid near Berkshire border
Masked men smash van with Land Rover
Three men dressed as police officers launched a brazen attack in a B&Q car park near Farnborough, Hampshire, smashing a white Peugeot van with a Land Rover. The imposter officers repeatedly rammed the van outside the DIY store at around 5.35pm on Tuesday, December 6, before trying – and failing – to break inside.
Escape bid ends in chaos and cannabis haul
After the van break-in attempt flopped, two men inside the Peugeot fled the scene. The men in the Land Rover, flashing fake blue police lights, also sped off. Hampshire Police soon confirmed those in the Land Rover were not real officers. They also revealed a “large quantity of cannabis” was recovered from the van.
Damage and concern across car park
The reckless stunt didn’t stop with the van — another vehicle was damaged, plus a store window and nearby bollards took a hit. The drama has rattled locals.
“We are aware that this incident may cause concern in the local community, but I would like to assure you that we are taking this report extremely seriously,” said Chief Inspector Emma Hart, District Commander for Hart and Rushmoor.
“Officers are also aware of a video circulating on social media, and we would like to request that members of the public refrain from speculating while officers conduct an investigation.”
Police hunt witnesses and ask for footage
Police have launched a full investigation and are calling for anyone with info or footage to come forward.
