Police nab three men with haul of stolen goods after high-stakes car stop

Unmarked cops spot suspicious Ford Fiesta

Just after 3pm on Tuesday 24 August 2021, two undercover police constables clocked a Ford Fiesta acting shifty on Sutton Road. Sensing trouble, they tailed the car into a busy supermarket car park.

Quick getaway attempt foiled

The Fiesta screeched to a halt, and the officers pulled up alongside. Two men jumped out and tried to make a break for it, but the cops were straight on their tails, aiming to stop and search them.

Backup arrives to nail suspects

When one suspect got edgy, two off-duty officers and a vigilant member of the public rushed to help. Meanwhile, a third man hanging around the vehicle was also cuffed.

Stolen goods uncovered and trio arrested

A search of the Fiesta revealed a stash of suspected stolen electrical items hidden in the back. The three men, aged 59, 46, and 45, were promptly arrested on suspicion of theft and handling stolen property. They’re now in police custody awaiting questioning.
