Brits Slapped with Fines for Dyeing Hair in Langland Bay Car Park
South Wales Police dished out a whopping 370 fines over the weekend as sunny weather sent crowds flocking to scenic spots like Langland Bay on the Gower Peninsula near Swansea. Among the penalty winners were those caught dyeing their hair in a car park — a clear breach of lockdown rules.
Seaside Trips and House Parties Crackdown
The police chief superintendent warned the public to stick to the rules. Other fines targeted visitors to coastal hotspots including Southerndown and Penarth in the Vale of Glamorgan, plus Bracelet Bay in Swansea’s Mumbles.
A large chunk of fines went to party-goers. Police fined 105 people attending just eight house parties in Cathays, Cardiff. To curb the chaos, car parks at popular beauty spots were shut down over the weekend.
Welsh Government Demands Responsible Behaviour
At Monday’s Welsh Government coronavirus briefing, First Minister Mark Drakeford urged the public to act responsibly. Under current Welsh lockdown laws, leaving home is only allowed for essential reasons or exercise.
