Youths Vandalise Police Car While Officers Tackle Emergency Call
Police were called to a 999 emergency when three youths decided to kick off a patrol car’s wing mirror – right outside a house where officers were dealing with an incident.
Chaos in Mansel Park as Suspects Flee
Officers from the Southampton West Neighbourhood Team quickly joined the scene and spotted three lads matching the description in Mansel Park. When police tried to detain them, two sped off on bikes down Lower Brownhill Road, leaving one surrounded in the park.
The stopped youth claimed he had nothing to do with the vandalism or why he tried to run. Police remain suspicious, especially after two fled, making it harder to clear him of involvement. Officers are now hunting CCTV footage and witnesses to get to the bottom of the damage.
Why Target the Police?
Those responsible might not realise the damage they caused. The response team handles urgent emergencies – protecting people and property. Now a patrol car is out of action until repaired, forcing officers to swap vehicles and adding to their paperwork burden.
Police Seek Three Young Males for Questioning
The force wants to speak to three males aged 15 to 17. Two were wearing black tracksuits and riding bikes, the third wore grey. Police urge anyone with info to contact them, referencing case #1754 of 03/07/2022.
Police spokesman said: “We’d like to meet these young people to understand why they damaged the police car. There are better ways to have your say than vandalism.”
Don’t mess with the boys in blue – they’re busy keeping us safe, not replacing broken kit because of pointless vandalism.
