Disaster struck during Storm Gerrit when a 4×4 veered off course and plunged into the River Esk near Glaisdale in North York Moors National Park. Rescue teams arrived fast but sadly, three men inside the vehicle were found dead at the scene.

The chilling incident happened on Thursday morning. North Yorkshire Police were called after the 4×4 was spotted submerged in the river at 11:48 am. A fourth man made a brave attempt to rescue those trapped in the vehicle but needed medical treatment for his efforts.
