Chris Packham’s Home Targeted in Midnight Arson Attack
TV star and wildlife champ Chris Packham, 60, faced a terrifying ordeal at his Hampshire home in the New Forest. Just after midnight on the night of October 7th, Chris was woken by a sudden explosion. Rushing to investigate, he found flames engulfing his garden’s electric gates.
Masked Men Set Fire to Packham’s Property
The blaze was no accident. Two masked men drove up in a Land Rover, jumped out, and deliberately set fire to Chris’s gates, causing thousands of pounds in damage. Thankfully, a quick-thinking neighbour dialled 999, and firefighters from Hythe and Beaulieu stations arrived swiftly to douse the flames.
I’m very grateful to the fire service and Hampshire Police for their prompt response,” Chris said.
Arson Attack Sparks Questions Over Motive
Chris is left questioning the reason behind the attack. Could it be linked to his outspoken wildlife activism? Over the years, he’s been subjected to relentless abuse, including having dead animals – birds, foxes, and badgers – regularly dumped outside his home.
Just last week, Chris found another dead badger thrown in front of his house. He told friends, “It’s got to the point this is normal. I didn’t even tell my partner Charlotte or stepdaughter Megan.”
Hampshire Police have launched a full arson investigation. Anyone with information is urged to call 101 quoting crime reference 44210403698.
