Police Officer Punched at Crash Scene in Dudley Chaos
Chaos erupted in Dudley early this morning when a police officer was attacked while dealing with a crash. Two suspects have now been arrested after the shocking assault.
Officer Attacked While Stopping Suspect
West Midlands Police rushed to the scene just before 5.30am after a Ford Ranger smashed into a wall on Robert Street, Lower Gornal. Officers spotted a man walking away from the wreckage.
As a female officer tried to stop him from jumping into a nearby Range Rover, driven by a second suspect, she was violently punched in the throat.
High-Speed Getaway Ends in Arrests
The Range Rover sped off, triggering a swift police response. Traffic units and drone teams joined the hunt, tracking the suspects down in Swindon, South Staffordshire by 7.30am.
- A 46-year-old man was arrested for assaulting an emergency worker and drink-driving.
- A 48-year-old woman was held on suspicion of assisting an offender.
The stolen Range Rover was recovered, and both remain in police custody. Thankfully, the injured officer avoided serious harm.
