Two Arrested After Swindon Burglary Foiled by Sharp-Eyed Neighbours
Two men have been nabbed after a high-value jewellery heist in Swindon went south, thanks to quick-thinking locals and a sharp police chase.
Neighbours Spot Burglary in Progress
Just after 5.45pm yesterday, neighbours in Marlborough Road heard glass smashing and saw two suspicious figures inside a home. They quickly alerted the police, spooking the burglars who fled the scene, jumping into a car heading east on the M4.
Police Chase Ends with Arrests in Lambeth
The getaway vehicle’s description was circulated to neighbouring forces. By 9pm, Met Police officers stopped the car in Lambeth and arrested two men. Inside, they found stolen jewellery, watches, and cash – the same loot believed to be taken during the Swindon break-in.
Investigation Continues
Insp David Tippetts said: “We’d like to thank the vigilant neighbours whose tip-off helped colleagues at the Met quickly locate this vehicle, stop further crime and recover a significant amount of stolen jewellery. Two suspects remain in custody in Gablecross while enquiries continue.”
