Met Police Crack Down on South American Sex Trafficking Ring

At the crack of dawn on Tuesday, 23 February, Met detectives launched a massive operation across London. Early raids hit six addresses in Hounslow, Croydon, Newham, and Barnet.

Raids Target Human Trafficking for Sexual Exploitation

The pre-planned swoop aimed to dismantle a South American sex trafficking network exploiting women in London brothels.

A 25-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman were hauled in on suspicion of controlling prostitution for profit and handling criminal property. The man was also arrested over arranging or facilitating travel for exploitation.

Seven Potential Victims Rescued

The pair are believed to be part of an organised crime group operating in one London brothel. Both suspects remain in custody at a west London police station.

Crucially, officers identified and safeguarded seven potential victims of trafficking during the raids.

Detective Inspector Nick Bland, Central Crime Command, said: “I’m delighted that our team’s hard work has led to these arrests. We believe these individuals are responsible for trafficking vulnerable women into the UK for exploitation. More importantly, we’ve been able to identify and protect seven potential victims.

“Sadly, modern slavery and exploitation still occur in London. We hope this investigation raises public awareness and sends a clear message: We will take action against those involved.

“Our modern slavery team works tirelessly to stop these crimes, protect victims, and bring criminals to justice. But we need your help too.

“If you suspect someone is a victim of modern slavery or trafficking, please call The Salvation Army’s 24-hour confidential referral helpline on 0800 808 3733.
