Tragedy in Croydon: Deadly House Fire Claims Lives
A horrific blaze ripped through a house on Sanderson Road, Croydon late Friday night, leaving two men dead and others fighting for life. Emergency services raced to the scene just after 11pm, but despite heroic rescue efforts, the flames proved fatal for multiple victims.
Fire Engulfs Squatters’ Property
The two-storey end-of-terrace house, reportedly occupied by Polish squatters, was rapidly consumed by fire. Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters from Croydon and neighbouring stations battled the inferno. The London Fire Brigade confirmed the fire was under control by 12.16am.

Crime Scene and Investigation Underway
Police have cordoned off the area and set up crime scene tents outside the smoke-ridden property. Road closures remain in place as officers investigate the fire’s cause alongside the London Fire Brigade and the Metropolitan Police.
“Sadly two people have died following a house fire on Sanderstead Road in South Croydon overnight,” a London Fire Brigade spokesperson said. “Three people were rescued and treated by ambulance crews.”
