This morning, emergency teams raced to Redwood Grove, Bedford, after a sudden explosion tore through a three-storey block of 20 flats. The blast triggered a ferocious fire that swallowed the entire building, causing much of the roof to collapse.
Two Hurt, One Seriously
At least two people have been rushed to hospital following the blast. One victim was taken to Addenbrooke’s with serious injuries. Authorities have confirmed their conditions remain critical but stable.
Emergency Services Battle Blaze, Evacuations Underway
Police, fire crews, and ambulance teams remain at the scene, working tirelessly to control the situation. Nearby residents have been evacuated as a precaution, including an adjacent block of flats. Bedford Borough Council has opened an Emergency Assistance Centre at The John Bunyan Centre for those displaced.
