Tragedy Strikes at Ingoldmells Caravan Site: Toddler Dies in Blaze
A heartbreaking fire at Sealands Caravan Park in Ingoldmells has claimed the life of a two-year-old girl. The blaze erupted at around 10.30pm on 23 August, leaving a family devastated.
Family Escapes but Toddler Lost
Four children and their mother were inside the caravan when the fire broke out. Three of the children and their mum managed to escape and were treated at hospital before being released. Sadly, their youngest child did not survive.
Neighbours Evacuated, Emergency Shelter Set Up
About 50 residents from nearby caravans were forced to evacuate and were taken to an emergency shelter at the Laver Leisure site for safety while investigations get underway.
Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward
Detective Inspector Jo Fortune said: “This is a devastating incident for all involved. We are in the very early stages of our investigations, and the cause of the fire is not yet clear. We are working closely with specialist teams to understand what happened.”
“We appeal to anyone who was at the scene last night and has not spoken to police to come forward. If you have video footage, please share it with us. Out of respect for the family, we ask that people do not share any footage online.”
