Major Crash Shuts A2 Near Dartford – Both Sides Closed
Kent Roads Policing is tackling a serious incident on the A2 at Wilmington, Dartford. Both carriageways are shut tight, causing chaos for early morning travellers.
What We Know So Far
- Emergency crews raced to the scene just after 3am on Saturday, 12th November 2022.
- Several vehicles are stranded on the coastbound side, while police and an ambulance attend the London-bound side.
- All lanes remain closed as officers conduct a full investigation.
- Closures could last for several hours, with drivers urged to avoid the area.
Official Comments and Diversions
A National Highways spokesman said: “The A2 in Kent is closed both ways between the M25/A282 and A2018 near Dartford due to a Kent Police-led incident. Police are on site, supported by National Highways Traffic Officers. The closures will stay in place while police carry out their investigation.”
Diversion Routes:
- Westbound: From M25 Junction 2, take the A225 (Princes Road). Continue along the A225 then re-join the A2 at Dartford Heath.
- Eastbound: Follow the westbound diversion route in reverse.
