Manchester Airport Arrest Sparks Outrage Over Police Use of Force

A shocking video has emerged showing Greater Manchester Police (GMP) officers punching and kicking a man during an arrest at Manchester Airport. The footage, captured by a holidaymaker, reveals the man being pinned down by multiple officers at the airport’s bus terminal.

Fury Over Brutal Arrest at Manchester Airport

The incident happened around 1 PM on Sunday, December 29, at the airport’s busy bus station. In the grainy clip, three officers can be seen holding the man down. One officer appears to deliver punches and kicks while holding a pair of handcuffs. Another is seen striking the man while restraining his head.

Later in the footage, five officers are seen forcing the man to the ground. He was arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly.

GMP Launch Probe Into Controversial Arrest

Greater Manchester Police has confirmed they are reviewing the footage amid public outcry. A GMP spokesperson said:

“We are currently reviewing a video published online showing the arrest of a man at Manchester Airport’s bus terminal yesterday afternoon (Sunday). We understand the concerns around the use of force shown on the clip, and our professional standards unit is assessing all available footage, including the officers’ body-worn cameras and CCTV.”

The force pledged a thorough investigation to determine if any further action is necessary.

Fresh Scrutiny After Recent Police Conduct Controversies

This latest incident comes just five months after a similar GMP-related video sparked protests across Manchester. In that case from July, two members of the public faced charges for assaulting police officers. However, the Crown Prosecution Service decided against charging any officers.

The new Manchester Airport footage has reignited debate over police tactics and accountability.

Public Demands Transparency and Answers

The video has quickly gone viral, drawing sharp criticism and calls for justice. Social media users questioned the officers’ behaviour during the arrest, demanding clarity and accountability.

GMP has urged calm and patience while its investigation remains ongoing. More updates will follow as the force digs deeper into the incident.
