An elderly man in his 70s, with impaired vision, was viciously attacked and robbed on Howards Grove between 11:40am and noon on Tuesday, 12 March. The victim had just withdrawn cash from Lloyd’s Bank in Shirley moments before the shocking assault.

Brutal Daytime Assault Caught on Camera

A witness captured the terrifying moment on their mobile phone. The footage shows a man in dark clothing lunging at the pensioner, landing a punch to the face while trying to snatch money from his pockets.

Victim Fights Back but Left Injured

Despite his injuries, the brave gentleman clung on to his cash, refusing to let the attacker get away with it. The savage mugging left the man with cuts and bruises to his face.

Suspect Description – Who Is This Local Thug?

  • White male, aged 35-40
  • About 5’10” with a proportionate build
  • Dark hair and beard
  • Wearing glasses
  • Clad in a dark jacket, jeans, trainers
  • Sporting a baseball cap, possibly Puma brand
  • Distinctive ‘open’ gait when walking

Police believe this thug is local and urge anyone who recognises him to come forward.
