Hackney Cops Admit Defeat as Parks Burst with Sun-Seekers on Hottest Day Yet

Police in Hackney have thrown in the towel as hundreds flock to parks and beaches on the sweltering hottest day of the year so far. Despite lockdown rules, sun-worshippers are packed shoulder to shoulder, cracking open beers and munching on pizza.

‘We’re Fighting a Losing Battle’

Officers on patrol admitted it’s nearly impossible to control the crowds. “We’re fighting a losing battle in the parks today,” one said. “Literally hundreds of people sitting having pizza, beers, wines.”

Lockdown Warnings Fall on Deaf Ears

While officials continue to urge the public to follow lockdown rules, the allure of sunshine is proving too strong. A heartfelt thank you was issued to those actually sticking to the guidelines.

“As always a big thank you to those that are observing the guidelines #StayHomeSaveLives #ProtectOurNHS #lockdownuk”
