Man Smashed on Head in Brutal High Street Attack
A man in his 40s was viciously hit over the head with an unknown object in a shocking assault on Saturday, 23 April 2022. The attack unfolded on the High Street, between Commercial Road and Esplanade, just after 8.30pm.
Victim Suffers Deep Head Wound
The victim suffered a deep, nasty cut that needed urgent medical care. Paramedics rushed him to hospital, where he required a large number of stitches. Police say the attack was entirely unprovoked.
Police Hunt Witnesses and Dashcam Footage
“This was an unprovoked assault that left the victim requiring a large number of stitches,” said investigating officer PC Nick Pebody.
“We have been checking CCTV footage and carrying out enquiries in the area. We urge anyone who saw what happened to get in touch.”
“Drivers with dashcam are asked to review their footage – it could be vital in catching the attacker.”
