Knife Threat Shocker Near Station Road at Dawn
Police are probing a chilling early-morning incident on Saturday 16 December 2023, where a man was threatened by a suspect claiming to be armed with a knife. The scary encounter happened between 6.30 and 6.50am near the Station Road junction.
Suspect Demanded Cash Machine Money – No Knife Spotted
The suspect allegedly forced the victim, a man in his 60s, to withdraw money from a cash machine. Though no weapon was seen, the suspect’s threats and demands were clear. The victim handed over some loose change, prompting the suspect to flee the scene.
Police Step Up CCTV Checks to Nab Culprit
DC Stuart Drakeley of North Division CID said: “Our initial CCTV enquiries have identified several people who were in the area when the alleged robbery was taking place. Whilst the suspect was unsuccessful in his efforts to make the victim use a cash machine, his threatening behaviour and demands are likely to have been obvious to anyone nearby.”
