Tragedy in Bradford: A 72-year-old woman has died after being hit by an e-bike on Leeds Old Road. Shaat Bibi was struck shortly before 5pm on Wednesday, 14 May. Despite emergency treatment, she passed away two days later on Friday, 16 May.
Teen E-Bike Rider Arrested and Bailed
A 17-year-old boy, riding the electric bike, was arrested at the scene and taken to hospital for assessment. He now faces multiple charges including:
- Dangerous driving causing serious injury
- Driving under the influence of drink or drugs
- Theft of a motor vehicle
- Assault
West Yorkshire Police have confirmed the teen has since been released on bail pending further investigation.
Major Collision Team Launches Urgent Appeal
The Major Collision and Enquiry Team (MCET) is leading the investigation. They are urgently calling for witnesses and any dashcam footage from the crash site near the junction of Leeds Old Road and Barkerend Road – a busy spot for pedestrians and commuters.
“We are urging anyone who witnessed the collision or has video footage of the incident to come forward as soon as possible. Your information could be crucial to our investigation,” said a police spokesperson.
