Tragedy on New Malden’s Coombe Road as woman, 21, fatally hit by car late Monday night. Police launch urgent hunt for witnesses.
Fateful Crash Rocks New Malden
The horror unfolded just before midnight on Monday, 13 August. At 11.24pm, cops were scrambled to Coombe Road after reports of a collision.
A 21-year-old woman on foot was struck by a vehicle. Despite frantic efforts from paramedics and London’s Air Ambulance, she was sadly declared dead at the scene shortly after midnight.
Driver Arrested and Released Under Investigation
The driver, a 27-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He was taken to a south London police station for questioning but has since been released under investigation.
Police Urge Witnesses to Speak Up
The Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit is desperate for anyone who saw the crash or has dash cam footage to come forward.
