Woman Attacked with Chunk of Wood in Portsmouth, Left with Head Injury
A 24-year-old woman was brutally struck on the head with a piece of wood during a shocking assault in Portsmouth. The attack happened between 10.05pm and 10.25pm on Wednesday, 18 October, as the woman and a 43-year-old man walked along Lake Road.
Young Thugs Turn Violent on Busy Portsmouth Street
The pair were confronted by a group of young men, leading to a heated altercation. The fight spilled onto the streets, continuing until they reached the junction of Church Street and Alexandra Road. That’s when one of the gang hit the woman over the head with a wooden weapon.
Victim Rushed to Hospital
The victim was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital (QA) for treatment after sustaining a head injury. The attack left her needing stitches.
Police Hunt Violent Wood-Wielding Suspect
Detective Constable Emily Dummer from Fratton CID is appealing for witnesses. She described the suspect as:
- White male, slim build
- Aged 15-18 years
- About 5ft 5ins tall
- Short dark brown hair with a fringe
- Dark coloured eyes
- Wearing a blue jumper, dark grey jogging bottoms, and dark trainers
“This incident took place across several streets – Lake Road, Alexandra Road, Church Street and 1 Street – and we believe numerous locals and passing drivers may have seen something,” DC Dummer said. “Did you see the attack? Do you know who these people are? Please step forward.”
