Tragic find in Waterlooville as missing man’s body discovered

Body found during hunt for missing man

Police have uncovered a body while searching for 28-year-old Anthony Bessey, who vanished from Waterlooville. His family has been informed and is receiving support from specialist officers.

Mass search spans vast woodland

More than a dozen volunteers joined the search around Crookhorn College before splitting to comb the dense forest near the A3(M) by South Downs College. The area, known as Queen’s Inclosure in the Forest of Bere, had been the focus of the extensive hunt.

No foul play suspected

Officers, increasingly worried for Anthony’s welfare, have clarified that his death is not being treated as suspicious. Formal identification procedures are still underway.
