Major Search Operation for Missing Person on the Isle of Wight

A major search operation involving the Police a Coastguard Helicopter, Two Coastguard search and Rescue teams and two Lifeboats is taking place in the Isle of Wight this evening. Emergency teams were scrambled just after 6.40pm on Saturday evening after a man has gone missing over the side of Culver Down Cliffs. It is not clear if the man jumped or lost his footing at this time. Police and UK Coastguard are in attendance at Culver Down near Sandown on the Isle of Wight Several Police officers are situated at the cliff top alongside a Coastguard Rescue Team from Bembridge. Ventnor Coastguard search and Rescue Team are also in attendance they are being supported by and the Coastguard Rescue helicopter from Lee-on-Solent . The search teams are believed to be looking for a male in his late 40 with Grey to white hair wearing jeans and T shirt. More to Follow
