Early Morning Violence Erupts in Birmingham
A 50-year-old man was viciously attacked in Brindley Place, off Broad Street, around 1.30am on August 29. He was reportedly struck with an object during a disorder that spilled out from a nearby pub.
Serious Injuries and Hospital Drama
The victim fell unconscious to the floor and was rushed to hospital with a fractured skull and serious facial injuries. His condition is described as potentially life-threatening. A second man was also hurt, suffering a broken nose.
Police Launching Full Investigation
Superintendent Paul Minor revealed the chaos started inside a pub before escalating outside. “We believe trouble started in a pub before further disorder in the street where the assault took place,” he said.
“The victim is very poorly in hospital. We’ve spoken to witnesses and are seizing CCTV to catch those responsible. The area was packed and many people may have recorded the incident on their phones.”
He urged anyone who filmed the brawl or was involved to come forward: “We want to get a clear picture of what happened and hear all sides.”
Crime Scene Locked Down
Forensic teams sealed off the entire Brindley Place area to gather evidence. Local eyewitnesses have been providing crucial details to help police unravel the violent confrontation.
